Student fined for bar abuse

A STUDENT has been fined for shouting homophobic abuse at a man outside a bar at Edinburgh College Of Art.

Jacob Black, 22, pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday to charges of conducting himself in a disorderly manner, threatening a man and shouting homophobic abuse at him, in Lady Lawson Street on September 19.

The court heard that Black, of Westfield Road in Gorgie, had been in the Wee Red Bar at the same time as the victim.

The court heard that Black was single, had no previous convictions, and was enrolled on a tiling course at Telford College.

Sheriff Neil McKinnon fined Black 160.
