Stretch swings in for rare solo performance

The frontman of Scotland’s only western swing band is to perform in the city tomorrow.

Stretch Dawrson of Stretch Dawrson and the Mending Hearts, will appear in a rare solo performance at The White Horse on the Canongate on from 8pm.

In addition to Western swing, he will also play ragtime blues, old-style jazz and Scottish folk instrumentals.

Stretch, real name Ian MacFadyen, is just back from a 50-date tour with the full band in and around Austin, Texas.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Stretch Dawrson has been playing professionally and as a teacher in Edinburgh for 20 years.

A singer and multi-instrumentalist, Stretch plays guitar, drums, bass, double bass, mandolin and banjo.

He played guitar with Edinburgh blues band Delta Croft Revue and was a drummer with the Black Rose Ceilidh Band.
