Stonehaven Leisure Centre pool closed for a week

THE swimming pool at Stonehaven Leisure Centre in Aberdeenshire has been closed for at least a week for emergency repairs.

A spokeswoman for Aberdeenshire Council said today that the popular pool had been closed following a failure in essential plant equipment.

She continued: “To resolve the problem, part of the pool plant will have to be dismantled and then reassembled with a new part to ensure the safety of visitors, the swimming pool will have to remain closed until the problem is repaired.

“It is not yet known how long it will take to make repairs, but the swimming pool is expected to be closed for at least a week.”

John Harding, the council’s head of service for Lifelong Learning and Leisure, said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused to users of the swimming pool and officers are working hard to ensure the pool will reopen as quickly as possible. In the meantime we will be contacting local swimming groups to see if alternative facilities can be provided.”
