CBBC presenter Iain Stirling has announced he is leaving the job to concentrate on his stand-up career.

The Edinburgh-born performer, who is supporting Russell Kane on his upcoming tour, is expected to appear on the show for the last time on February 1 next year.

The 24-year-old, who was studying law at Edinburgh University when he got his big break on the show, said: “I’ve had a great four years in the CBBC office, but the time feels right to move on to new projects. Stand-up is where I started and has always been my passion.”
