Still swinging at seventeen

AN old monkey has arrived at Edinburgh Zoo to see out his retirement with good company.

Argus, who is thought to be around 17, is already proving a good companion for Shaba, a female monkey of a similar age.

The Hamlyn’s Monkey – also known as an “owl face” – arrived before Christmas and has settled in well to his new home.

Georgina Cook, primate keeper at the zoo, said “We’ve not brought Argus to breed with Shaba – it is more of a retirement pairing.”
