A STEEL fabrication company has been fined £50,000 for unsafe work practices which led to a metal plate falling on a worker's arm.

Iain Sutherland, 50, was left with a broken right forearm and finger after the accident at Forth Steel Limited at South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh on August 21 last year.

The firm pled guilty to failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees between August 21, 2001 and August 21, 2009.
