St Mirren fan to visit police station for matches

A FOOTBALL fan has been ordered to spend the first half of his team’s next 13 league matches in a police station.

St Mirren fan Hugh McIlwraith was told to go to Renfrew police station during the opening 45 minutes of the SPL team’s fixtures until next year.

The teenager was also banned from visiting any SPL ground or the national stadium at Hampden when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday.

McIlwraith, 17, appeared from custody after being arrested at McDiarmid Park, in Perth, on Saturday, when his team were beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone.

He denied assaulting another supporter at McDiarmid Park on 6 October by punching him once to the body and mouth to his minor injury.

He also denied breaching the peace.
