SSPCA appeal: Dog stabbed to death in Clydebank

THE Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was stabbed to death in a “barbaric” attack in Clydebank.

The body of the dog, which had been stabbed nine times, was discovered on Sunday night at an industrial estate next to Beardmore Street.

The dog’s devastated owners had reported their pet missing earlier in the evening.

An SSPCA spokeswoman said: “The tan-coloured male mastiff cross Irish Staffordshire bull terrier had been stabbed nine times in his ribs, chest and neck.”

Senior Inspector Nicki Scott said, “This was an absolutely horrific attack and it is difficult to imagine the terror that was inflicted upon this dog.

“The dog was reported missing from his home in Caledonia Street that night and, understandably, his owners were shocked and devastated to learn he had been found, having been stabbed to death.”

She added: “We can’t comprehend why anyone would do this to a defenceless animal and we urgently need to identify the person responsible for this barbaric crime.

“If anyone has any information at all, we are urging them to search their conscience and contact us as soon as possible.”
