Square set to be invaded

THE Garden County of East Lothian is set to encroach into Capital territory next month as a miniature model of its best-known attractions takes up residence in St Andrew Square.

The promotional scheme, Wish You Were There, aims to encourage Edinburgh residents and festival visitors to “sample the delights” of the county by holding cookery demonstrations, pony rides, art workshops and sporting challenges. Golf courses will also be marketed.

Cllr John McMillan, cabinet member for economic development, said: “East Lothian will be the focus of worldwide golf attention next year when Muirfield hosts the open again.”

The two-week “occupation” will open on Wednesday and run each day from 8am-8pm.
