Speed limit cut progress

plans to reduce the speed limit for traffic on a busy Bathgate road have moved up a gear.

At a West Lothian Council meeting, officers from the council’s development planning team advised the council executive that the existing speed limit of 40mph on Balmuir Road should be reduced to 30mph.

Councillors unanimously agreed to start the statutory procedures to reduce the limit.

Executive councillor for the environment, Robert De Bold, said: “The changes will extend the speed limit in this part of the town.”
