Spanish protest in Capital

PROTESTERS gathered outside the Spanish Embassy on North Castle Street yesterday to demand reform of Spain's democracy.

Hundreds of protesters, many from Spain, took part in the demonstration, which followed mass protests across Spain demanding jobs, economic equality and "real democracy."

The demonstration, which passed off peacefully, came ahead of Sunday's election in Spain. The country currently has the highest jobless rate in Europe, with a record 4.9 million people unemployed, with bleak economic forecasts.
