Solar eclipse sparks eyesight warning

An INTERNATIONAL charity has warned people against staring directly at Tuesday's partial solar eclipse.

Professor Clare Gilbert, Sightsavers' medical adviser, said: "Worrying about sun damage might seem strange with such a cold winter, but looking directly at the sun is extremely dangerous and can permanently damage the retina and eyesight."
