SNP ‘turned back on workers’

LABOUR’S Ian Murray has accused the SNP of turning its back on Scottish workers after it emerged the Scottish Government has made no representations to the UK Business Department about controversial plans to make it easier for bosses to sack people.

The Beecroft report, produced by venture capitalist Adrian Beecroft, recommended scrapping unfair dismissal for a form of compensated no fault dismissal.

Mr Murray, MP for Edinburgh South and shadow business minister, said: “I am utterly astonished at the lack of interest that the Scottish Government has shown in protecting the rights of working people in Scotland from the Beecroft report, which represents the biggest attack on their rights for a generation.”
