Snow slideshow: Capital sculptors get to work

The Big Freeze might have brought misery to many of us, shutting down schools and roads, and turning pavements into an ice rink.

Despite the problems, however, there have been plenty of people getting out there and enjoying the snow.

We've been inundated with pictures from readers showing some of the city's most imaginative and amusing snow creations, from a snow-horse in the Meadows to relaxing snowmen in Princes Street Gardens, as well as images of the stunning landscapes created by the white blanket - the heaviest snowfall since the winter of 1962/3 - and more than a few showing the hard work people have been putting in trying to clear pavements, roads and driveways.
