With continuing icy conditions on the roads, police are still urging drivers to exercise judgement as to whether their journey is essential or not, and to consider alternative methods of reaching their destination.

Only drive if your car is suitably equipped, drive at an appropriate speed and keep a safe distance from the car in front.

Flooding

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has warned melting snow could lead to flooding.

It said that while the risk of flooding remained "very low", unsettled Atlantic weather systems could move in, bringing a rapid rise in temperatures and heavy rainfall.

Forecast

Today will start dry and bright but frosty before turning cloudy later on. There is a chance of rain showers in the evening with daytime temperatures of 2C falling to -1 C overnight.

Tomorrow and Saturday are set to be dry with temperatures as high as 5C during the day tomorrow.
