Snow and ice warning as big freeze goes on

SNOW showers and freezing temperatures are set to continue in Edinburgh and the Lothians over the next few days, with forecasters warning there is no sign of ice on the region's roads beginning to melt.

Temperatures will continue to remain below freezing during the day, plummeting to between -5 and -10C overnight.

Forecasters at the Met Office expect more snow showers in the area within the next few days, particularly in East Lothian, and warned heavy snow was possible.

Forecaster Robin Steel said: "There could be significant snow for the evening and overnight, with snow showers expected on Tuesday and Wednesday."
