A LOTHIANS woman has spoken of her horror on learning that her ex-pat sister has been killed in her Dubai apartment.

Maria McClymont was knifed through the heart by a man she was trying to help find a job, it was reported today.

The 50-year-old HR manager's body lay undiscovered for several days, before sister Sheena Aitken alerted staff at the Golden Sands 2 apartment block after Maria failed to return her calls.

Today, Ms Aitken said that her sister a mother of three and grandmother of two, who moved to the Middle East 20 years ago after meeting her Saudi husband in Edinburgh, met the unemployed man recently and had been helping him find work.

Ms Aitken, who recently returned from a trip to Dubai to her home in Dalkeith, said: "My sister was the kindest person you'd ever meet. Her apartment was a mess, so it looks as if she put up a brave fight."

Simon Goldsmith, spokesman for the British embassy in Dubai, said: "We are aware of a case involving a UK national and we are offering full consular assistance."
