SIR Tom Farmer will be unveiled as the inaugural chancellor of Queen Margaret University at a special ceremony.

The former college became a university last year and named Sir Tom as its prospective chancellor in March. The Kwik-Fit founder was chosen because of his links with the institution and his business expertise.

Professor Anthony Cohen, principal and vice-chancellor at QMU, will lead the special ceremony at the Assembly Hall, on July 5.

Former health minister Susan Deacon has been appointed professor of social change at QMU.
