Sir Sean Connery will be spending his 88th birthday at home in the Bahamas, his son Jason has confirmed.
In true Bond style, the legendary Edinburgh-born actor has been based on the tropical islands since the 1990s.
“My dad will be having a quiet birthday at home with family and friends,” Jason Connery told the Evening News.
The cinema legend has kept a relatively low profile since his last film, a 2012 animation called Sir Billi.
He made a rare appearance at the US Open tennis tournament last year and was met by a standing ovation while the 007 theme played over the loudspeakers.
His son said: “Unfortunately I won’t be there due to commitments here in Scotland, but look forward to seeing him for a belated celebration next month.”
Jason is currently in St Andrews filming a lifestyle television series called The Golf Explorers.
Sir Sean unveiled a plaque in 2010 at the site of his Fountainbridge childhood home.
