Sir Jimmy Savile’s Glencoe property taken off the market

THE REMOTE Highland hideaway of the late Sir Jimmy Savile has been taken off the market, just after it went on sale.

The former DJ and television presenter, who died seven months ago aged 84, bought the modest white cottage in 1998. A for sale sign went up at the property in Glencoe this week, but the trustees of his estate yesterday halted the sale. A spokeswoman for selling agents MacArthur Stewart in Fort William said:”We had a call from the trustees asking us to suspend the sale. “We have not been told why. We have had some interest already. It was going on the market for offers over £300,000 - I think the trustees were looking at £350,000.” The cottage sits more than a mile from any other property and has views of the Three Sisters mountain range opposite. It was an escape from Jimmy Savile’s hectic lifestyle, which included a busy charity schedule.
