Sir Fred ‘may face charges’

FORMER RBS boss Sir Fred Goodwin could yet face criminal charges over the near-collapse of the bank, it was claimed today.

Lord Turner, chairman of the Financial Services Authority, said yesterday there was not enough evidence to punish RBS directors.

But reports today suggested Sir Fred and others could be pursued under the Companies Act, which says directors should be able to disclose their company’s financial position with reasonable accuracy at any time” – a requirement the FSA suggests they failed to fulfil.
