Simple Minds frontman cancels solo show

SCOTS music legend Jim Kerr has been forced to cancel an intimate gig at The Liquid Room later this month.

The Simple Minds frontman was to be in town under his new musical alter ego, Lostboy! Aka Jim Kerr, but the show has now been rescheduled for spring 2011.

The cancellation followed revelations that his mother Irene had been battling cancer.

"So sorry for the rescheduling," said Kerr in a statement.

"I appreciate immensely the effort that people go to support me.

"Regarding the overwhelming positive messages from so many of you during the last week - our family says thanks to each and every one.

"Got a bit of a struggle on our hands right now, but we will get through. And when we do, we will never forget your wonderful support.

"Thanks, and sorry once again."

Refunds will be available for anyone with tickets for the November 24 gig, but original tickets will still be valid for the new date, which is still to be confirmed.
