Shop staff spy rare Bond book

STAFF at a Capital charity shop proved to have a golden eye for spotting a real gem when they found a rare 007 first edition in a bag of donations.

The Oxfam Morningside bookshop staff spied the first edition of Ian Fleming's Live and Let Die in a bin bag.

The novel was Fleming's second book and is estimated to be worth 600 to 800.

It will be auctioned at Bonhams in Oxford on 29 September.

The bookshop has received several valuable donations over the years. Last year a first edition of From Russia with Love raised 300 and staff are hoping that the auction of Live and Let Die will be even more successful.

Bookshop manager Andy Crosby said: "007 seems to bring a bit of luck to our shop.

"We don't know who donated the book but I would like to thank them very much for their extremely generous donation."
