Shop robber faces prison

A ROBBER has admitted threatening a teenage boy with a knife and stealing £200 from a shop where the youngster worked.

Gordon Steen, 32, went into the Star Store in Liston Place, Kirkliston, armed with a knife, on April 4 last year, and forced Aquib Assam to open the till.

Steen, of Lochend Drive, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty at the city's Sheriff Court yesterday.

Deferring sentence for reports, Sheriff Gordon Liddle told Steen: "This was a premeditated offence. Your prospects of escaping a custodial sentence are minimal."
