Sheriff to investigate prison death of murder accused

A SHERIFF will investigate the death of a man who was accused of brutally stabbing his wife to death in a savage paper shop attack.

Sheikh Saine, 43, was in prison due to face charges of stabbing his wife to death in a newsagents when he died.

Saine’s body was discovered by prison wardens in the protection wing of Barlinnie Prison in September 2010. Now a fatal accident inquiry will be held into his death in July of this year at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Saine, originally from West Africa, killed his estranged wife Fatou Saine, 33, whilst she worked in RS McColls in St Enoch Square, Glasgow.

The former engineer walked into the shop and plunged an eight inch knife into his wife several times in a frenzied attack.
