Sharp rise in measles cases

TEENAGERS and young adults in the Lothians have been warned about a sharp rise in measles cases.

Health Protection Scotland said there have been 22 confirmed cases of the illness so far this year, when there wasn't a single one for the same period in 2010.

There have also been 54 reports of measles, compared to 38 last year.

Health chiefs said the rise seemed to be occurring in teenagers and those in their 20s.
