Northern Constabulary issued an urgent appeal after Scott Murray, 27 – described as a “high risk missing person” - disappeared from New Craigs Hospital in Inverness.

He was last seen at 10am and police issued a description of him.

They said he was finally traced at about 9pm last night.

Murray has a number of convictions for sex offences, is on the sex offenders register and was made subject of a sexual offences prevention order in 2010 – banning him from swimming pools, leisure centres and gyms.

He was jailed for 18 months last year for breaking the order.

Murray was being treated at New Craigs Hospital under a compulsory treatment order.
