Sex offender back in jail after chat with fellow pervert

A FREED sex offender was jailed for two years after talking to a former prison associate on the day he was released from jail.

Kenneth Gibson was originally ordered to be detained for eight years in 2005 at the age of 17 for abducting a schoolboy from a bus and subjecting the victim to a sex assault which a judge described as "a totally terrible and horrible crime".

Gibson, now 23, was freed early from prison in January this year but ahead of his release a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) was secured aimed at stopping him committing further crimes.

Gibson breached the order on 21 January at Greenside Place, in Edinburgh, when he came across another sex offender in the street.

A judge ordered that Gibson should be returned to prison to serve 12 months of the unexpired part of his earlier sentence and jailed him for a further year for violating the terms of the SOPO.

Gibson had been with two support officers when he met up with the other freed sex offender and they had a conversation lasting no more than a minute.

He was jailed at the same court in 2005 for abducting, robbing and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in Edinburgh city centre on 20 September in 2004.

He marched his victim in a headlock to a lane and carried out the sex attack after repeatedly punching the boy.

He originally admitted breaching the SOPO when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, but was sent to the High Court to be dealt with.
