Serial sex offender Morris Petch sees sentence cut

A PAEDOPHILE has had his minimum sentence slashed by judges.

Morris Petch, 54, was given a life sentence after being found guilty of raping two little girls.

Trial judge Lord Malcolm ruled that serial sex offender Petch should spend at least 12 years behind bars before he could ask the parole board to free him.

Later Petch joined forces with rapist Robert Foye to challenge the way judges calculate minimum sentences.

Lord Osborne yesterday cut the so-called "punishment part" which Petch must serve to eight years.

In his written ruling, Lord Osborne added that Petch would not necessarily be released after completing eight years.
