Second fire at Lothians jail

FIREFIGHTERS tackled their second blaze at a Scottish private prison in just 11 days.

Crews from three stations were called to Addiewell Prison, West Lothian, after a fire in a prisoner’s cell shortly after 7.30am yesterday.

A Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “Once we gained access, the prisoner was removed and was placed in the care of the ambulance service.” No-one was available for comment from Sodexo, the firm that runs the jail.
