Second chance for shoplifter

A SERIAL shoplifter who stole to finance his heroin habit has been given a chance to turn his life around.

Mark Taylor, 21, admitted racially abusing a custody officer at Livingston Sheriff Court, five charges of shoplifting and twice breaching bail curfews.

Taylor, of Armadale, West Lothian, had pleaded guilty at earlier hearings. His defence solicitor told the court Taylor was trying to beat his habit.

Sheriff Martin Edington said: “I’m going to give you a chance to show you’ve turned the corner.”
