AN air and land search is taking place for a 69-year-old experienced mountaineer reported missing in Glencoe.
Robin Garton, who is from Wiltshire and is a keen climber, had been staying in the area near to Buachaille Etive Mor. Police inquiries have established that Mr Garton checked out of his accommodation at around 8am on Friday.
He had plans to travel north to meet friends in the Kinlochewe area on Sunday but failed to meet as arranged and has not been seen since Friday morning.
He was reported missing on Monday afternoon.
Rescuers from Glencoe and RAF mountain rescue teams, as well as a rescue helicopter from Inverness and police search talks are scouring the area in a bid to trace Mr Garton.
Mr Garton is described as 6ft 2in, slim to medium build. He has fair hair which is slightly balding and occasionally wears glasses. It is not known what he was wearing, but it is believed that he was hill walking in the Glencoe area. If anyone has seen Mr Garton they are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
