Search to continue tomorrow for Highland hillwalker

A major land and air search is set to resume tomorrow in the Highlands for a missing experienced hillwalker.

Police Scotland, which is co-ordinating the hunt for the overdue walker, said an “extensive search” - involving two helicopters and four mountain rescue teams - in the Buachaille Etive Mor area has so far failed to find any trace of the missing man.

The man, in his 60s, is also said to be an experienced climber, but failed to return home on Tuesday night.

Among the scores involved in the search today were police, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, Oban Mountain Rescue Team, RAF Mountain Rescue Team, RAF Helicopter Rescue 177 from Lossiemouth and the Police Scotland Air Support Unit helicopter.

Police dogs and those from the Search and Rescue Dogs Association also joined the hunt.

The overdue hillwalker is believed to be wearing a red rucksack.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the search would resume tomorrow morning if he was not found last night.

Police would ask that anyone who has been walking in the area either on Tuesday or today and may any information, to call on 101.
