Seabird centre switches focus

STAFF at the Scottish Seabird Centre have been given the green light to install a new camera on the Bass Rock to study its wildlife.

The centre, based in North Berwick, already had two cameras on the island in the Firth of Forth to beam back images.

But one of the cameras is now surrounded by a dense colony of nesting gannets which often blocks any footage. Its location had also made it inaccessible for repair and maintenance work.

The centre applied to East Lothian Council for planning approval to site a third camera, which was given at a recent meeting.
