Scots first for gay marriage

SCOTLAND looks set to become the first part of the UK to legalise gay marriage after the Westminster government omitted the measure from yesterday’s Queen’s Speech.

David Cameron decided not to include a Bill after pressure from Tory MPs.

But the Scottish Government is expected to press ahead with legislation to allow same-sex couples to get married.

A law could be passed next year with Scotland’s first gay marriage taking place in 2014.

US President Barack Obama declared his support for gay marriage yesterday.
