Scots economic recovery stalls

ECONOMIC recovery in Scotland has begun to stall, figures published today suggest.

Almost half the firms surveyed in the latest Lloyds TSB Scotland Business Monitor reported a decrease in turnover as the country struggles to shake off the recession.

The survey covering the three months to March found 47 per cent of companies reporting a decline, with 25 per cent noting an increase. Economists say the severe winter weather is likely to blame for the setback.

Much of the decline in trading has been experienced in the production sector, Lloyds TSB said.
