The new single from Highlands band Skipinnish, The Island, went to number 51 this week, ahead of recordings by Kanye West, George Ezra, Ed Sheeran and of course, Taylor herself.

Two members of the trad collective - Robert Robertson and Ross Wilson - recorded a video cover version of her smash hit Shake It Off, with singer Robertson asking the Pennsylvania-born songstress out for dinner if she was ever ‘passing through Glasgow’.

The video has been shared widely on social media, with Outlander star Sam Heughan tweeting the video to the 25-year-old singer in a bid to land Robertson his dream date.

Fair play to Robert for studiously ignoring the presence of Taylor’s beau, fellow Scot Calvin Harris.

Robert added: “I’m sure Calvin is a really nice guy, but I don’t fancy his chances against a band full of West Highlanders determined to take his girl out for a curry!”

Taylor Swift revealed her Scots ancestry at her recent sell-out show at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
