Some of the first babies of the New Year have been welcomed into the world at maternity units around the country.
Carolann Horsburgh, from Gorebridge, had a boy son Mason White (8lb) at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at 0103hrs.
Mother Nikole Kidney, from Peterhead, welcomed her youngster into the world at 12.39am on Friday at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital. The child has not yet been given a name.
The same unit also had two other early-hours arrivals on New Year’s Day.
Jennifer Arnott, from Ellon, had a baby boy at 2.55am. He weighed in at 6lbs 9oz.
And Zoe Ejebu, of Aberdeen, gave birth to a boy at 5.16am.
Just 12 minutes later, the labour ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness saw its first birth of the year. No details have been made available about the birth at 1.15am.
Reuben John Irvine was born this morning at 04.50am at 6lb 15oz at Livingston St John’s Hospital.
The Highland hospital’s second arrival of 2016 was in the form of a a baby boy born to mother Rowena MacDonald, from Skye, at 4.35am.
The first New Year baby at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert was a baby girl.
The youngster, who has not yet been named, came into the world at 4.24am to parents Jilly and Scott MacKenzie from Stenhousemuir. The girl, the couple’s first baby, was 7lb 5oz.
In West Lothian, the first baby born on Friday at St John’s Hospital in Livingston was a boy named Reuben.
Parents Megan Proudlock, 23, and John Irvine, 27, of Linlithgow, welcomed him into the world at 4.50am. He weighed 6lb 15oz.
