Scotland star to be added to hall of fame

DALKEITH-BORN football star Darren Fletcher is to be inducted into Midlothian Council's sporting hall of fame.

Fletcher, who has captained the Scotland squad four times, joins such names as Rosewell-born Eddie Thomson, who played for Hearts and Aberdeen and later managed Australia's national side, and judo world champion Graham Randall of Bonnyrigg.

A spokesperson for Midlothian Council said: "At its meeting on January 27 Midlothian Council considered a motion to congratulate Darren Fletcher on being part of the Manchester United team which recently won the World Club Championship."
