HEAVY rain could bring flooding and travel disruption to southern Scotland overnight, according to a Met Office severe weather warning.
The agency issued a yellow - “be aware” - alert for up to 50mm (2in) of rain in the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
The warning will be in force from 6pm until 6am tomorrow.
A Met Office spokesman said: “A band of rain will move east across Scotland on Sunday evening and overnight, clearing soon after dawn on Monday.
“The rain will be heaviest across the high ground of eastern Dumfries and Galloway and the south west of the Borders, where some minor flooding is possible.
“Fast-responding rivers in the warning area may rise to give minor river flooding.
“The public should be aware of difficult driving conditions, and the possibility of minor travel disruption.”
The agency said 20-40mm of rain could fall, and “possibly as much as 50mm in the wettest spots”.
