Scot gets probation for file-sharing

The first person in Scotland to be convicted of sharing illegally downloaded music files has been sentenced to three years' probation.

Anne Muir, 58, from Ayrshire, was caught with more than 30,000 files, worth 54,792.

The mother of three was sentenced at Ayr Sheriff Court.

Defence lawyer Lorenzo Alonzi said she had not used the network for financial gain, but to build up her self-esteem.
