School pupils ready for a spell-ebration

TOP students from a city high school are making their way closer to the final of a national Spelling Bee Championship.

Pupils from Drummond Community High School came first in the regional heats in Falkirk last month, beating the second-placed team by 14 points.

The school team – Evie Walters, Sulaiman Sarwar, Finlay Allan and Nishat Mohammad – finished with an impressive 54 points

The students are now preparing for the semi-finals in May.

The Spelling Bee Championship is a UK-wide competition aimed at making learning to spell more fun.

Around 1,000 schools entered the challenge. The final will be held in London in June.
