Schemin' dream of big screen stardom

TRAINSPOTTING'S Irvine Welsh and Danny Boyle could be reunited for a movie about two Scots who fooled the music industry.

Leith-born Welsh is reportedly working on a screenplay based on the book California Schemin' by Gavin Bain who, along with pal Billy Boyd, spent two years as gangsta rappers Silibil'n'Brains.

The Dundee pair duped record bosses with their fake American accents and gained a record deal with giants Sony, earning more than 150,000.

They performed at the Brixton Academy, toured with Eminem, gatecrashed the Brits and partied with Madonna.

Mr Bain, 28, said: "We are just waiting to hear back from Danny Boyle. He's at the top of our wish list but he's in the middle of a movie."

Mr Welsh has reportedly written to the Oscar winning director about the film.

Mr Bain also has an idea of who he would like to play him – Martin Compston of Sweet Sixteen fame.
