Sat nav aims for level best

NETWORK Rail has been advising drivers at one of Scotland's most dangerous level crossings about new sat-nav technology designed to help cut accidents.

A free downloadable application, which tells drivers they are approaching a level crossing, has been developed by Network Rail and leading satellite navigation provider Garmin.

Network Rail community safety and operations staff and British Transport Police officers were at sites across the country yesterday, including the notorious crossing at Kirknewton, West Lothian, to distribute information leaflets and answer motorists' questions regarding use of the infrastructure.
