Santa hands out 12,000 toys to kids

KIND-HEARTED residents are being thanked for making this year’s West Lothian Toy Appeal a “huge success”.

More than 550 families benefited this year, with over 12,000 toys set to be delivered on Christmas Day – making it one of the busiest in the appeal’s 27-year history.

The appeal encourages people to donate toys to help some of the most disadvantaged families in West Lothian each year.

West Lothian Leisure teamed up with the charity organisers, River Kids, this year and those donating toys could take them to any of West Lothian Leisure’s facilities.

Wendy Simpson, from River Kids, said: “Having Santa deliver toys at Christmas may not make up for the dismal reality of living in refuge accommodation or being separated from friends and family members, but at least it brings a little brightness into the lives of innocent children.

“West Lothian Leisure coming on board was a great help and resulted in a big increase in the number of toys donated.

“We are delighted that West Lothian Leisure has offered to help out again next year..”
