Samoa to jump forward in time

Samoa plans to leap 24 hours into the future, erasing a day so it can be on the same weekday as Australia, New Zealand and eastern Asia.

The move offsets a decision made 119 years ago to align itself with US traders. But Samoa's interests now lie more with the Asia-Pacific region and it wants to switch back to the west side of the time line.
