Samba Band get revellers into a rhythm

REVELLERS enjoyed the rhythms of the Edinburgh Samba Band who performed at the inaugural New Year Games held in the Old Town.

Two teams, the Uppies and Doonies, took part in a series of games in four venues – Dancebase, The Hub, St Giles’ Cathedral and the National Museum of Scotland.

Traditional street games were re-imagined for the event with the support of the Scottish Government.

Giant board games and a playground in the Grassmarket allowed participants to play physical and mental games.
