For sale: Irn Bru, Tunnock’s and haggis miniatures

Fans from all over the UK and as far afield as the US and Australia buying hundreds of the trinkets every year.

The handmade pieces include miniature cans and bottles of Irn Bru, plates of haggis, neeps and tatties and boxes of Tunnock’s tea cakes.

Ms Hinks, 51, and partner Mr Monaghan, 53, have run Tolbooth Miniatures in Falkirk since quitting their customer service jobs with big companies ten years ago.

Ms Hinks said: “The Scottish accessories are among our biggest sellers. Doll’s house enthusiasts from all over the world love them.

“We had a couple from Australia in the shop earlier this week and they bought some Irn Bru bottles and cans.

“They are particularly popular with ex-pat Scots who want something from home to decorate their dolls’ houses.”

The couple make all the 1:12 scale items by hand, using clay for the food dishes. Other miniatures include Scott’s Porridge Oats, a range of Campbell’s soups and a Scottish plain loaf.

They started their doll’s house business ten years ago after they bought one for Ms Hinks’s then 13-year-old daughter.

Mr Monaghan said: “The Scottish things we make are very popular. We sell hundreds of each of the items every year. We take great care over all the things we make and people seem to love them.”
