Safety tips to foil break-ins
POLICE in south Edinburgh have issued safety tips to residents to combat housebreakers following a spate of break-ins in the Newington and Marchmont areas.
The Housebreaking Investigation Unit has urged residents to ensure doors and windows are locked, and called attention to “older sash-style windows” as being particularly vulnerable.
Officers have advised residents with these types of windows to install locking mechanisms.
The force has also reminded the public that they can request a crime prevention survey from police at their property.
