Safety fears foil hotel bid

PLANS for a new 31 bedroom hotel in the Lothians have been rejected by council chiefs amid fears the project could make nearby roads more dangerous.

Nicola McKendry, from Loanhead, submitted proposals to build the hotel on the site of a former filling station on Biggar Road at Silverburn, near Penicuik, in Midlothian.

But Midlothian Council chiefs said "the level of parking is below standard for a 31 bedroom hotel. This could lead to road safety concerns."
